2000 Explorer XLT
I have 2000 Ford Explorer XLT 2WD, 6 cylinder. It has 15" wheels on it. I want to go to a bigger and nicer looking wheel.

What is the largest size whhel he should go to keeping the following in mind:

1) I want him to be able to buy tires that he can get good mileage out (say 30,000+ miles) vs. some low profile tires that only get 15-20,000 miles)
2) I do not want to throw off the speedomoeter very much
3) I want to go to a size where tires are still at good prices
4) I want to go to a size that do not negatively affect the power/speed of the vehicle too much (It is a 6 cylinder)
5) I want to go to a size that does not start to make it alot more unsafe side when making sharp turns

Thanks

It all depends on what you wanna do...are you lookin more torwards off road or street type look? Now you can get off road tires for 18" rims or maybe bigger and of course you can get a street type tire for any size...it is all about what look you are going for.

Thanks for the reply. It will NOT be an off road vehicle. Just want a real nicxe street look.

Go visit ExplorerExpress.com. They have 18x9 for just over $200. They'll fit your X nicely.
