I just replaces my tranny (5r55w) on my 2002 Ford Explorer most of my original problems are gone but the rebuilt tranny shifts real late out of first gear. It shift at about 3000 to 3500 RPM. Although every once and a while it will shift almost normal. This is very rare when it shifts normal. The only thing I didn't get with the rebuilt transmission is the speed sensors. I have a cheaper code reader and I didn't pick up any codes even though I got the flashing O/D light. Any suggestions on my next step?

If you bought the rebuild off the shelf and installed yourself, the seller will still probably do some trouble shooting for you for free.

I have a similar issue. New rebuilt 5R55E. Works fine when cold, but when it warms up to normal operating temp (engine) from a stop it holds in 1st gear until I let off the gas. Once up to normal speeds it resumes normal shifting. Works same way with O/D on or off. No flashing O/D light. I did get a P1762 and then cleared it after i fixed a few exhaust leaks. I again have Check Engine light but have not gotten the code yet.

Does anybody out there have a clue as to why the tranny works fine when cold but once warmed up (about 20 miles or so) it starts acting up?
