It appears that both rear shocks are leaking shock oil. The long smudge is from my finger. I wanted to make absolutely sure the dealer sees what I did when I bring it in to them. That's not just dust, it's dust on top of oil.

Hopefully your dealer isn't logjammed with work like some are. If so, you might want to consider ordering the shocks and reolacing them yourself. I just looked and apparently they are only a little more than $60 each and about an hour of your time to replace. No alignment needed afterwards.

dang!!! that sucks!!! hate leaky shocks, and its still a new vehicle too!! is it under warranty, and will the dealer do it, or can they reimbursse you for work done elsewhere if they have too much work on their hands?

It's still under warranty. They will not reimburse if I do it or have someone else do it, it doesn't work that way.

alright, im not experienced w warranties ;) these 2nd gens done carry one no more! that sucks though! couldve sworn i heard of subaru reimbursing for previous repairs but that couldve been for a recall though...

How many miles?

On my 21 KR both rear are leaking (right worse than left) with 16K miles and 2 1/2 years
Service advisor mentioned the right is at the point Ford would replace under warranty but the left is "almost there" .... but not at the point Ford would warranty. Crazy and disappointing as i have NEVER had shocks fail this early.

Seems like I'm buying shocks more often, they don't last as long as they used to.

Installed the firmer PIU shocks in my '21 Platinum. Ride quality is significantly better.
Additional info in the link below. I replaced both, similar warranty issue, at my own expense.
