Just changed my starter and a day later I had a massive transmission leak.. (agood puddle) I had checked the pan bolts and most were pretty loose ,so i tightened them and decided to get new gasket put on as well and thought that would be the end of it.. wrong .. The leak is coming from passenger side just above pan , but I can't see exactly where . Could I have disturbed the cooling lines or is it probable a seal in trans. 92 2wd.I can do most work myself except for rebuilding trans. Should I just bite the bullet and take to trans shop and have them figure it out ... thanks..

The dipstick and both metal trans cooler lines are on the passenger side......look there.

Also the vacuum line for the tranny is on this side, if there is fluid coming out of here thats bad news.....

I wouldnt plan on rebuilding the tranny just yet, if it was leaking out of the center of the trans then maybe but since you say its on one side, its probably a loose fitting or cut line or something like that.

Why is it leaking now when all you did was the starter?

Are you sure the pan and gasket went back together right?

Now if the tranny was overfilled, it is possible that it is foaming over and spilling out, but it should spill out the vent tube which is on the drivers side........

get under there and take a good detailed look around, this could save you alot of $$$

Just had a good look

I just had a good look as best as I could see there is a protruding round object just above pan, with what looks like a seal (I guess it is the other side of linkage Not sure ,not to smart on trannys)I could see it dripping from there .. This truck has 290,000 kms. on it and I don't really want to spend alot but it still runs great.Could this be a simple seal repair and hope for the best.

Same tranny but something missing?

Also I noticed on drivers side just above the pan there is what looks like a fitting missing. The hole is a threaded one and looks fresh like something just fell out,I went to ford dealership at parts but he couldn't find or just couldn't be bothered. No fluid is coming out of this . Could this be just a breather or should it be plugged. I have a breather that I already got that threads in and a plug that I can also put in. I work at ford and looked at the truck transmissions and I think it is jus t a plug that fell out, but there are some tubes on certain trannys that do come out of there and attach to other parts of tranny .. doesn't look like that ,that would be to many parts to fall off. Thanks for any help ,., still driving it also just watching the fluid level closely..shifts fine and everything..

Fixed

This problem is now fixed and it cost 240 cdn. it was just a seal above pan ,but it leaked pretty good . also on drivers side there was some kind of bracket there ,seems to of dissappeared but not affecting anything.. Thanks.
