With all the high wind and rain in the last 5 days my Exp has developed a winshield leak at the top drivers side (about 4 inches from the left corner).... I quickly checked the seal and it appears tight to the window. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I had the same problem in my 92 sport. I pinned the problem to the rain gutter channeling water into the gasket. I had someone look at it, but never fixed it. I ended up selling the truck on a sunny day.

I'd bring your truck to a windshield glass place and see what they'd recomend. it could be as simple as putting that rubber gum stuff in the gasket that connects to the gutter

Becareful - I had a similar problem on my '98EB. When it rained hard and I would brake hard it leaked since it was new. Took it ot he dealer and another dealer and another dealer. They could never fix it - I leased it and returned it, now unfortunately it is someone elses problem. They all tried to tell me the problem was I was not closing the moonroof right - like that is so hard - you press the button and it closes.

The only good peice of advice they gave me (which I never heeded) was to bring it in when it was leaking. Much easier to chase the leak then.

I have the same problem on my 93 xlt, and as much as it rains here in oregon its a big problem, I fixed it for a while by filling the two gutters with silicone where they meet up with the top of the windshield, but it seems to have come back latley, was thinking about dropping the headliner and trying to seal it from the inside, I have the moonroof also so I'll try and seal that also, anybody ever dropped the headliner before and if so how hard was it?

Thanks for the info. I double checked the location and it indeed seems to be close the the gutter channel. I gently lifted the seal at the gutter and there is noticable deterioriation. Fortunatly I will have full access to the wifes car all next week so I am planning on letting the seal dry out (may help along with hair dryer) and trying to seal with silicone or winshield goo (if I can locate). I will followup with success/failure.

All else fails the winshield is the original and has a fair amount of small pits so a new one may be just the ticket (with a new seal of course)

i had the same problem and the only advice I can say is get the windsheild replaced ASAP!!! the longer you wait, the more it'll rust where the windsheild is supposed to seal and if it gets as bad as mine was (from not getting it fixed for 9 months) then the windsheild guy will not let you have the lifetime warentee and he will say you must bring it to a body shop, have them pop the windsheild back out, then sandblast the area where the windsheild is to seal onto because he said there was so much rust that the bead he put on would most likely not hold. This spring I will have to se ehow much sandblasting and repainting will be.....everyone else who has this problem....my advice is save money and just get the darn windsheild replaced immediatly!
Good luck!
