HELP !! my sunroof on my 92 exploere leaks when it rains. Any suggestion please. Seal looks good but a new one is too much $$$ from Ford. Help before i swim out of my truck.
Ya, the sunroof had a recall on the 91-94s...I think it had to do something with the latch (or maybe the hinges) not hooking back up correctly when/if you took the glass portion out. I don't know...I never bothered to take it in (never take the sunroof off, anyways).
I have heard of the problems resulting in the sunroof. If my latches were bad you think ford will cover under that recall almost 10 years later? Or am I just sol?
If there was a recall Ford should still take your truck in. I had a support of the rear gate brake on me and the very same day I got a recall notice on this very thing. Took it to te dealer fixed within one hour. As far as leaky sunroof, I'd try cleaning first before replacing the seal. Make sure there is no debris in there too as it might get traped between the seal and the glass. That's the most common cause of the leak.
I fortunately have no leaks, but a highly annoying whistle while driving on the highway. I have tried cleaning the glass and the rubber seal, no luck. I have tried a silicon grease to provide a better seal, no luck. Why is this happening to me - I keep hearing noises.... "those noises in my head Aghhhh."
Oh well, is my only fix a GTS ventguard for the sunroof? It deflects the flow of air and in essence the whistling sound should go bye bye.
