Led brake lights

I tried replacing the bulbs in my rear brake lights for leds. At first they worked properly but after a while they over heated and burned out. Could i add a resistor for when i hit the brake? Is there a fix for this or what? I already installed the reverse lights and Flashers with resistors which look awesome btw . Planning to do the front flashers and HID head lights next but want to figure out the brake situation first.

granted no PnP LED bulb is perfect, i've had good luck with superbrightleds and v-leds... make sure you buy SMD/SMT type, nothing else is bright enough...
