LED headlight out / failure

Hello All,

I am new to the forum and hadn't seen this addressed directly.

My passenger side LED low beam failed recently on my 2017 XLT (under 40k mi). I have searched far and wide and am coming to the conclusion (since the bulb is not serviceable) that to fix it the entire assembly needs to be replaced. Why an engineer would design a $0.50 component and common failure point to be unserviceable is a rage convo I've already had with myself 🤮.

I am looking to understand if the ballast is in fact a common point of failure or if it is in fact the LED bulb/assembly. The assemblies are sold with/without ballasts so before I go down the road of $600-1000 to replace, maybe there is a more cost effective repair?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Forum James.
LED headlamp failure is quite rare. Is it possible to switch the ballast to the other headlamp to check it?
