Ok guys, I'm in need of some help. I've been reading other post and checked their suggestions to no avail. When my exploder is in 4wh and I turn to the left or right it has a severe vibration and popping. It almost looks like the axle is jumping out, or pulling out of the front diff. I have replaced all the bearings and the u joint, checked the rab's and where the RA attaches to the beam. Any other ideas?

Do you have the auto hubs?

Yes, they have been cleaned and seem to be working, but I'm not sure that isn't the problem.

Over time the auto hubs in the 1st gen Xplorers wear down and start doing what yours is doing now. (my 94 did the same) I ended up fixing it with a manual hub conversion kit.
There are a few threads that helped me out in the 1st Gen forum.

It does this while driving on the pavement or on the dirt

on the dirt and on the rack

As far as I know, it's normal. Mine does it too. Also, you only want to use 4x4 on very low traction areas. It's not made to be used in situations where 2wd would work fine.

I would recommend switching to manual hubs. Mine worked fine when I got the truck, but after maybe 8 hours of use altogether, I blew one up. They're insanely weak.

The auto hubs in my 92 did the same thing. Pulled them apart and all looked good. Cleaned them, put them back on and same issue. Finally broke down and bought some manuals. Miss the autos but the price of replacing them made the manuals a no brainer to me.
