i've read up on this stuff a bit and basically heard that if you dont gotta diesel dont buy a chip they dont do anything..

i read these writeups mostly for amusement..but i am wondering if ANYbody here has anyything to say on these two examples.. please share.. also if you know of a chip that would help with anything.. like shifting, power of any kind in any band of the engine and/or uel economy..please share

no, chips do help, just not those ebay ones. the ones that work are expensive. well compared to those.

These don't do anything. They are just a resistor you stick in your intake, and it sends wrong signals. All it will do is screw your car over.

The ebay ones are just a resistor but they dont work in the right way. It is just a resistor on the signal wire of the intake air temp sensor. All it does is tell the computer that the incoming air is colder than it actually is this inturn makes the computer advance the timing a bit and dump in more gas. But in all my resurch if you do this and do not also adjust the map sensor reading then your motor may have a low rpm stumble and miss kinda like a backfire threw the intake during deceleration. So in my opinion this would be harmfull to your motor maybe even detrimental.

Thats what I meant to say, with more detail.

yeah thats what i was figuring.. it changes the ECUs readings.. whoever does those writeups is prtty convincing tho. i cant believe someone would b.s. sooo much.. these guys offer a lifetime no ?'s asked warranty and money back and all if you dont see improvement.. so i was wondering the deal. i kno a lot of these i could make with radio shack parts. but ye ah i just wanted to throw that out there..

either way. is the consensus:bama chips for the first gen ex?

i would like to do something ECU wise with ol' dora. (See sig) i hav a few engine mods and 35s with stock trans (15k on rebuild) but i got 4.56s. but i would like to do something with that motor to keep it goin strong

though i have contimplated 2 options: 1.) major 4.0 rebuild and 2.) 302 swap

302 swap is a biiig job. ask 410 fortune

yeha i realize that.. would a 302 be the best bet?.. i def wwunna ford smallblock.. i kno its a biiiig job.. but i feel like it would b very worth it.. any opinions?

Believe the experts on this site, not the ebay hucksters. If you look at their ebay feedback, all of the positive replies are only for quick delivery of the product. The nuetral or negative feedback tells the real story about these phony claims.

exactly, this was an old redneck trick to try and get more hp when fuel injections first started to come around

but even the expensive chips that actually do help don't help much, personally i wouldn't buy one unless i had a diesel
