Actually it is a Proffesional Products Typhoon
It is identical to Edelbrock, but polished is less money than Ed's satin performer
I ran one on my car, but switched to the Eddy Performer for a little more velocity.BTW
Do you have a write up for that swap handy?

i did the factory box chop with a k&n filter and i got a huge gain especially in mid range rpms, mine does not look as good as mr gutter screen with the rivits but the gains were unimaginable considering what the mod. highly recommended

An updated pic of my Volant/MAC/C&L Franken-Intake on my 5.0:

-Volant box from SOHC kit.
-MAC intake tube for 5.0, cut down to fit.
-C&L MAF body, OEM electronics.
-Amsoil filter (no oil!)
-red silicone couplers and stainless t-bolts (completely overbuilt, but looks cool)
-OEM "5.0" badge a la Mustang.

The whole setup can be installed or removed in a minute (loosen the two bolts closest to the TB, disconnect crankcase breather and MAF connection and remove).

Next "upgrade"? A bake in Jon Smith's powdercoat oven for the intake tube and MAF body (late June).

One of a kind. :)

Did you have to buy the whole SOHC kit to get the Volant Box?

Yup. I had a SOHC Sport for several years with the Volant on it. I still have the intake tube from that setup actually.

I've tried to source individual parts in the past from other intake suppliers and they won't bite. They know what you're trying to do. They want you to take all the parts. You can try, but I wouldn't expect them to sell you the parts unless you can prove to them that some of your existing parts are faulty/damaged.

Brad, did you find any other sources for inlet piping? I will need a larger 90 degree pipe similar to the two that you have used on your 302. I need one which is 3.5" in diameter, to match my 90mm MAF. The stock inlet pipes are about 3", close to the 68mm TB size. I want a big pipe from the MAF until the TB, I'll make the size change there. I'd prefer thin SS pipe, but I haven't looked much. I kept finding exhaust piping, or plastic pipe, or application specific pipe. Thanks for any help,

Don:

I never really looked for sources. I took the lazy way out orignally and scored a cheapo intake kit on eBay for the 5.0 and used that tube. I then jumped on the MAC intake that TAS had for sale on the other site. The intake tube, couplers and t-bolts are off of that beautiful Ex of his.

I'd try a muffler shop. The place that does my exhaust actually sells a lot of parts for intakes. They identified a market for those items, especially from the ricer community and keep all sorts of tubes, couplers and the like on hand. I used them to cut down my MAC tube so it would fit better with my setup.

Thanks, I will when I get closer to my engine swap.
