LIFT...by adjusting torsion bars??

hey, i have a 97 explorer 4x4 with torsion bar ifs in the front....leading to my question..ive heard that it is possible to adjust teh torsion bar for a little bit of lift????...if so, how would i do it and how much lift would it provide. along with any dissadvantages?...any help would be great, thanks!
