ok, i've got a (mostly) stock 93 x sport 4x4 5-speed. i want a lift and 33s. also, most of my driving is on-road.

1) what size lift (i am thinking 3")
2) where to get lift/how much/can i do it myself?
3) will 33's fit of on 15x8 rims?
4) since most of my driving is on-road, is it necessary for me to convert to manual hubs for some light offroading/trails?
5) i just put on new monroe sensatracs al around. should i have gone with rancho 5000s?
6) it is necessary to re-gear?

1) to fit 33s you'll need at least 5" unless you want to trim a bunch. There are 5.5" suspension kits or you could go cheap and do 2" suspension + 3" body
2) talk to others
3) yes, but also depends on backspacing
4) I would convert
5) you'll need new shocks with the 5.5", and might wear out your new ones prematurely with the 2" also. I'd say with 33"s go with adjustable Rancho 9000s.
6) most likely, 3.73 with 33 is doable but not great. 4.10 is probably a good compromise, and 4.56 is a bit on the low end.

what alec said.... read some old posts... 33's and 5.5 suspension lifts are fairly common, you should have no problem finding out more than you ever wanted to know

I went the cheep route (for now) 3" body, 2" shackle/spacer. Running 33x12.50 Goodyear MT/R's on a 15x8 AR Atlas Rim, with 4.5 backspacing (I think... it was so long ago that i bought them). You can do it yourself if you are semi mechanically inclined and have a decient array of tools. As far as gearing goes, I am currently running 3.55's with the 33's and it sucks! I am going to upgrade to 4.56's when I get some extra cash though.

wow, thank for the tips...but what is there really to a lift. i am just not learning how tot do small repairs, but my girlfriends dad is building a jeep frame up and rebuilt her explorer, so he may be able to aide me. what would i be lookg at (ie cost/labor) to do a suspension lift and body lift?

You can expect to pay about $600/$700 in labor for a Suspension lift in MO.

Installing the lift is not very hard, just time consuming. You will need at least two people and at times a third would be nice. With a little help from your girfriends father you can do it. The hardest part is grinding out the old rivets. Superlifts instruction are very good.

I installed my suspension lift in two days, with help from my two sons.

I have a Superlift 4" Suspension Lift and a 3" Body Lift, works great with the 33's. Don't forget to order brake lines if you get a 4" lift or taller.

Good luck and remember to have fun while dong it.:D

yeah, i just gotta come up with the green and try to pry him away from his jeep (which will be VERY hard because he now has a 6-car garage for his toys at the new house)
