Hey guys i am new here and I have a 2002 Explorer Limted. I've heard that you cannot put a lift on a 2002 explorer. Does anyone know if this is true or not and does anyone possibly have any pics of a 2002 Explorer with any kind of lift on it. Also i was talking to a guy who worked at the body shop of a ford dealership and he said that it could be done. Well im going to a 4x4 specialist this weekend so ill find out if it is possibly or not.

Thanks

I am not 100% sure, but i dont think you can lift it... FORD decided to do something funky with the rear independant suspension that makes it pass through the frame

Ive heard that a body lift is unsafe or, unstable should i say. Is this true or not?

For the right amount of money anything is possible. Anything is possible.

if properly done, body lifts are perfectly safe

True, as long as it is a real body lift and not a homemade one, they are safe. You should check your bolts and blocks ever month or so, but as long as you did the install correct you should be fine.

I went to a 4x4 specialist and they said it might be possible to get a 2002 explorer sport suspension lift to fit my 02 explorer limited but im not sure if it is possible if you have any ideas let me know. Im also gettin a grille guard for the car and if anyone has any suggestions just give me the site and ill take a look at it.

Thanks,
BIG J

i dont see how that lift would work, maybe on the front end, but its the rear that would bother me

The front MAY work... un sure of that, but nope the rear fer the 02 sports are solid axle, you got IRS... which sucks, cause it's a PITA to non liftable...

so is the only possibility is a body lift in the rear or is that not possible either.

A body lift would have to apply to the entire truck. In case you don't know, a body lift raises the body higher off the frame; you can't just do half. And there aren't any bl kits out yet for the 2002 4 door :(

Problem is, the 02+ don't use torsion bars, they use coil springs with struts.

ok if a body lift is for the whole car well then y does my friend have a 2dr tahoe with a lift on the susp. lift on the front and a body lift on the back, or is it different because its a different kind of car?

P.S. IM ****ED WITH TRYIN

If he has susp front, body lift rear ONLY, i want to stay far far away from that truck....
unless someone was a moron and did some custom crap like that, then it's not feasable

he did have some custom **** done to it

DR J, imagine 2 bars of steel. Normally, the spacer between the frame (1 bar) and the body (the other) is small. A body lift is just large spacers that lift the body off the frame. To do differing bl front and rear, each spacer would need to be cut at an angle because the 2 bars wouldn't be parallel anymore. Definately not easy to do, and probably not safe either.
