Photos Lifted Sport Tracs Picture Thread!

Mine are just those aerodynamic hollow steel tubes that curve. Dunno if thats the same as what you had or not. I dont think I've ever seen a brand on them but I never really looked. I'll remember not to throw a spare up there on them ;)

Though I notice luke mounted his 12.5 duratrac under his bed. Didnt think it would fit but might go with that option eventually. Hmm or just buy a relatively cheap tire the same height but a 10.5 instead. Then I wouldnt lose clearance. I dont tend to rotate spares in anyway. Too much to think about lol.

Mine 33x12.5 fits up in there, with a little trimming there as well. There's a metal tongue that I basically just chopped off under there, I'll see if I can find a picture. Takes a little wiggling to get it in there, and out, but it definitely fits. Doesn't hang lower than anything else under there, really

My intentions were to remove it with heavy offroading, but I always forget.. lol. No whammies yet :)

Hmm I would love to see a pic of that. Doesnt look too bad from your pics anyway. Would be nice to have a spare that you can rely on. Up here if you get a flat its probably somewhere you need a real tire to get out of anyway lol

I never intended the roof rack for anything but deer season when I use my bed the most. I will definitely have the spare in the bed on any offroad trips. My wife likes the look of it in the rack better than the bed so I may just remove the rack for offroad trips...you know, to please the wife, lol.

When I get the 1 tons under the truck I will have the tire mounted under the bed whatever it takes.

Chad managed to fit his 35 under there somehow so it can be done! I've foun I have to be careful about the terrain I'm on when My tire's up on top. Its only sitting on runners I made that run the length of the roof. Not the best idea but it's always only temporary and usually on the interstate which is smooth and straight.

Dude I cant wait to see your Trac in about two years. Its not even going to look like a trac anymore lol. But very sick. Btw how much does the tire on the roof mess with the weight balance? I drove an old isuzu trooper before I got my trac and I hated how top heavy that ***** was.

I like the tire out of the bed regardless. Love it underneath because I actually use the bed lol. Would drive me crazy to not have it.

I can notice a difference and I have aluminum rims instead of steelies. Plus it sits only a 1/4" abpve the roof as opposed to 3". It's not terrible but definitely noticeable when youre on a slant lol.

I completely understand what you mean about not having the bed free. I have very little room between the tire and my 2 toolboxes. Just haven't taken the time or money to find a permanent fix for it

Your truck will be awesome when you get the 1 tons under it. I'm pretty sure it'd be the 1st ST in the world too. All the SAS'd Tracs I've seen are 44s.

Eventually I'll get full width axles out of a Super Duty but that's not until I'm out of college and can afford to have a trail rig and a tow rig.

Badass pics dude. I'm being a pansy and not taking too many pics while I have the topper on. It annoys the crap out of my old man (who bought me the top) but I didnt buy that trac so it could look like an suv lol. Such a complainer I know.

It's really not ideal to have it on top. I did leave it on top on my last trip out because I knew the trails weren't very rough. Still felt like a lot of scary weight up there at some points.

I wonder how it would have affected my situation at Gulches last year. I've never felt so top heavy before. The tire would have made that situation more puckering. I'd hate to think it would have been enough to put me on my side in the water. That's enough to make me not want to run it up there offroad.

hugh, you gonna be able to make it? thinking the explorerforum campsite this time, and i'll MAYBE take my truck lol break out the tow straps.

Thanks man that was up in Carlisle at All Truck Nationals.

Hugh, I dont think it would've put you over on your side but it was definitely one hell of a predicament lol. A tire is only 100lbs or so so it couldnt raise the COG that much compared to if it was sitting in the bed.

Carlisle pa do you guys usually always go to the all ford nationals..runner?

Spacers

You guys have been really helpful but I am still in need of help. I am trying to decide if I should get wheel spacers and if so how big I should get. I want to avoid all running with as little trimming as possible. I am getting a 3in body lift with Toyo 285/75/16 AT2 tires put on on. I am prepared to tweek the torsion bar as needed but if wheel spacers will help I am gonna go ahead and order some and have them put on next week when I get the rest of the work done. Has anyone put them and had any luck. Thanks.

I don't think you will need the spacers if rubbing is your concern. I have 3" of lift with 12.50" wide tires and with a little trimming, I'm good.

LONO100, Did you do any lift with the torsion bar? If so how much?

Spacers will cause you to need more trimming. As it pushes the wheel and tire out, the turning radius gets pushed into the fenders. I don't know if that makes sense without a visual.

I can say that when I had 32x11.5s, no torsion twist and no spacers, I only rubbed on the sway bar. I got 1.5" spacers because the tires looked too tucked in. I got all kinds of rubbing after the spacers so I cranked the torsion bars up a little to stop the rubbing.
