Liftgate randomly opens when doors are closed

Did anyone ever determine the actual cause of the liftgate randomly opening? We have a 2020 Explorer that randomly opens the liftgate if the vehicle is not locked. It has happened while sitting in our parking area overnight several times now. It happened while we were in the automatic car wash yesterday. This morning it happened 3 times in a row before my wife could get out of the driveway. Locking the vehicle seems to keep it from happening. It's not the FOB as it is nowhere near the vehicle when this has happened. And we do not have the kick detection feature either.
Welcome to the Forum.
See post #57 above. Updating the firmware seems to have resolved the issue. I suggest that you take it to the dealer and speak with them.

FOB button can get inadvertantly pushed when in a pocket or purse. I had this happen to me once or twice. The other day the remote start turned off because the FOB button got pushed in my pocket next to my wallet.
