On my 2006 explorer v8 4x4 I have a intermittent problem with the liftgate glass popping open at random times while I'm driving. It could take over an hour of constant driving for it to pop open or it could happen 20 min after. I found a few threads with people having this problem on older models but no one has found a solution.

I think I will take the rear switch out for inspection and swap the relay with another.

Did you ever find a solution to your problem? I have the same issue, the liftgate window automatically pops open while drive, as if someone hit the open button on the key fob. I disconnected the switch to open it from the rear liftgate and it still does it. Sometimes it will just pop open when I close the driver side door. The only way to prevent it from opening is I lock all the doors. I probably have to take it to Ford to check for a short somewhere. 2006 Ford Exlporer XLT. Any help would be great.

I have not found a solution, there is a larger thread on the subject with no solutions. Many people on the forum are having this problem so if you find a solution please post your results.

After cleaning and lube I believe this is the solution to this problem. A better fix would be to buy a new latch.

Ha! I've been having the same issue. My girlfriend was the 1st to experience it while driving down the highway. She called in a panic :help: and I thought the entire liftgate opened. Turned out it was just the glass.

I cleaned the latch as well and it's only happened once since. I'll try some lube and see if that helps. If it happens frequently I'll spring for a new latch.
