Liftgate Won't Open

I realize that ideally the BMS (Battery Management System) should be reset after a battery replacement or charge but I have never done that despite frequently having to charge the battery due to it getting low because of infrequent driving but it has never caused a problem.
The liftgate latch or module could be the issue.

I'm wondering why when the guy crashed into me. They didn't fix the module too because that's where I was hit.

If I understand the situation correctly, the repairs to the liftgate were done some time ago and the liftgate issue just began a few days ago. Did the 'gate' work in between those times? I'm guessing they would have tested the liftgate after the repairs. Are you able to see if any trouble codes have been set? I understand that places like Autozone will do a free check.
Also, remember that we are just speculating as to what the issue is.

They repaired the aulator because there were issues. But ehy wasn't that looked at as well being that it was hit in that exact area. What if it was damaged during the accident amd it's just now showing issues it was? But yes. It just started with these issues.

If after replacing the actuator the liftgate was working, there would be no need to look at the module or latch since everything worked. It's been 3 months since the repair so it could be something else or a delayed failure.
The earlier 5th gens had a panel on the interior of the liftgate that could be removed to allow you to open the liftgate. I don't know if the 2017 has that or not. You may have to go to your dealership or independent garage to have it checked out.

Thank you

My
My trunk won't open and we have tried everything...the key fob, sensors under the car, pushing the button next to the passenger seat, etc. There is a "Liftgate Open" warning displayed every time I start the car, and when I go into settings on the steering wheel "Power Liftgate" is grey (other selections being blue) and unaccessible. Any idea what the problem is? Thank you!

Mine wouldn't opened and it stayed open. Lights took about a minute to turn off. The issue with mine was the number 5 amp number ten under the dash, kinda complicated to get to, took two screws out the popped the cover off put new fuse in and boom! Everything back to normal

I took the advice of one of the other people who replied, and he said something about taking the negative off anf resetting the battery, and I did that, and now it works like magic lol.
