The Explorer is officially broken in, as the side of the garage it's parked in is where the tools, etc are. Something happened where wood bounced off the kids bounce house and against the Explorer... :(. The first door ding and I am devastated! I haven't had a door ding in forever, so I called the dealer for a referral, to remove the dent. It's right above the fuel door. The kicker is that it was perfect condition and now not, as I'm negotiating a car deal....

My dilemma is do I disclose it, or fix it? I'm trying to decide whether a 2014 or a 2015 Sport .... Ugh I just don't know....lol

Either way, you will likely take quite a hit in the trade. Some 'dings' may be very easy to repair. Hard to tell in your case without a picture. You can always get an independent estimate on a repair and then try to figure out if the cost is more than any additional depreciation might be. Good luck.

The concern about that ding is where it is. If on doors the ding doctors just shimmy tools down by the window, using a large looking card to protect the rolled down window and massage the ding out.

If they have an area to get their tools in to reach this ding they should be able to make it flawless (assuming it is a rounded ding as opposed to a sharp crease ding) and I would not see it affecting value at all. The only concern with a ding where you indicate it is is how to get behind it to work on it.

Being right above the fuel door should allow the Dent Doctor "physician" to work his tool to the area by removing some of the fuel inlet tube hopefully. A picture of the dent would really give some idea of what you could do.

I would have it looked at before deciding what to do with it.

Use a skilled PDR guy. You'll never know.

I agree, Dent Doctor (or equal) would be my first stop.

I took photos to show you the dent but you can't tell.

I left a message for the dent removal specialist ... The irony is the dealer called too. Lol... The deal is waiting so I am stalling.... So close

Is that longer scratch looking area the dent?

Really can't tell from the pic because I can't see the dent.

If that is a scratched area, that scratch would need to be buffed out. Pic is not clear enough to tell if it is possible to make it clean and get the whole scratch out.

I'm also not sure a dent guy can get in through the fuel cap area. Would tend not to think so.

Best bet would be to take the taillight off and go in that way hoping their is nothing that would block their PDR tool getting to the dent along the way.

If its just a ding find a good body shop.

I would see no need to disclose a ding that's been repaired.

Actually, body shops generally don't do Paintless Dent Repair. It is not good for their business. They will want to take the quarter panel off to knock the dent out.

What a body shop would be good for is if that scratch can't come out and you want it repaired, they can sand, paint and blend the quarter panel. Again, not cheap.

A good PDR guy can get a dent out for $150 that a body shop would charge $500.
