I plan on locking the Front and Rear in the Exploda up really soon. Its my daily driver so I dont want to much of an aggresive locker in the rear maybe like a EZ Locker? But the front doesn't matter. Does anyone know where I can go on the internet and look at some? Also does anyone know what gears I should run with my 35s?

4.10 gears would be suitable for 35's, however I am not sure about the locker, do a search on locker, there are tons of threads about lockers.

Minimum 4.56 gears with 35's!!!!!!!!!!!

I talk from experience go with 4.56 gears, I had 4.10 and they are worthless with 35's, so I installed 4.56. Note I also have superchip and electric cooling fans (instead of a fan clutch) to free up more horses and I still wish I had more power.

Brought to you by a Ford Master Technician, go with the 4.56 so you don't have to do it twice.:D

I was just going off what I heard before. But since you actually have it, you're more in the know.

Ok what about lockers? Where can I get all this for a good price?

I'd say wait for the Aussie lockers to come out this month. Cheapest locker it appears on the initial product roll out and the reports have been positive on testing.

Say around $220 landed per locker. do a search for Aussie Locker.

Is it a true locker or a limited slip locker?

It is a true locker, just like a Noslip or EZlocker.

Go with 4.56's. I've got 4.10s with 33's and which I had more go..

I'd recommend the 4.56's too I just put 34 x 10.5 Superswamper LTBs on ExplorerEB96's Truck, and it could definitely use lower gearing. Acceleration on the highway is now a lesson in patience. 0-60 time is probably in the 20-25 second range at best. It'll get there, ya just gotta wait a while.

In 4lo it's not bad, but it could be better....

4.56 for sure with 35's.

You sure you want a fulltime locker in the front?
A locker + snowy road = NOT GOOD

A detroit gearless would work great in the back (not cheap) or you could do a lincoln locker (welded)

I prefer a selecatble in the front, you are limited to ARB for now I believe.....

I have an ARB up front and LOVE it.

Having the front locked all the time in 4x4 means it wont be much tuse to you on the street.........if you have a winter, dont lock up the front or you will go right off the road.......

I drive in 4x4 locked front and rear in the snow. I have absolutely no problem with it, and get way better traction than everyone else (obviously.) But then again, it's snow, so it's not exactally the smartest to haul ass then. I've got no problem being locked front and rear in the snow.

even on the highway?

I would MUCH rather have an open diff in 4 Wheel High on the highway tehn a locked front end........
Thats not to say you cant do it, but the selectable locker is preferred in these conditions.......

Dont you mean frontlocker + snowy road = a whole lot of fun  :D

i have done the snow thing with lockers front and rear and it isn great but it will work. Granded the snow we get here doesnt get much ice under it so it is usally just the snow so it has pretty good traction. I have gone 40 or so but thats the fasted with no one else around and was getting pretty fun with the two lockers. If i did alot f snow driving i would change something

Matt

Matt, in CO we get all sorts of the snow/ice.
People continue at 65-70 MPH when there is 2"on the road surface.

As you can see a front locker is not good for this, hence the ARB.

we get 24" of snow in 1 night sometimes, then it melts by noon, so you get snow, ice, slush, puddles, then it all freezes again the next night, etc etc.......

I guess it all depends onwhat you use the truck for and how often. OUt here it is common for me to drive around for a 30 dyas or so with the hubs locked so I can click in and out of 4x4 as needed.........
