Locking in and out of PARK

Sometimes, more often lately, my 2003 V6 Explorer's column shifter is preventing me from getting into PARK or sometimes preventing me from coming out of PARK. Like I don't have my foot on the Brake. Started last month sticking a little now it's locking out. Any ideas before I take it to a shop? I'm not completely without skills but wouldn't know where to start.

Had the same problem look under the dash to were the shifter connects to ull see a bolt loose that's holding it together. Tighten it. This happened in my ford Windstar . thought my tranny was gone but was a loose bolt

Turns out it was Brake Light Actuator switch is bad. Explains why it was a progressive condition. Cleaned internal contacts for now. Going out to get new switch.
