I'm wanting to purchase a rear swaybar for my truck to increase handling. Wondering if the group purchase price of $150+ shipping is still on? Looking to pick one up...

LMAO!

What group buy? EE used to be active on this site.....about 5-6 years ago. Since then their service went in the tank and they don't carry 1/2 of what they list on their site.

I scored my EE bar 3 years ago and it was around $200. They shipped UPS to Canada so I got hammered on brokerage too.

Still money well spent at the end of the day.

Longshot is an understatement! :D

hmm...one word..

DAMN

So how can I get these sway bars then?

I didn't hesitate to pay full pop when I got my EB in November '05. One of the first mods I did to it. Also had one on my '00 Sport before that. They're that good. Either do that or wait for one to come up for sale used (which happens once in a blue moon).

I found the links to the old GB. It was around 6 years ago when "John V" used to frequent the boards (and before he had a falling out with his brother and left the Company). He lived on the site back then. It was before my time on the site too, but I used to find a lot of great John V posts in the archives.

Those were EE's glory years on EF and it's NEVER been the same since. Snowball's chance in hell you'd ever get them into a GB of anything again. They pretty much have nothing to do with EF anymore. I don't even think they're a vendor anymore.

So how can I get these sway bars then?

Call EE and see if they're still carrying them. I find they're pretty slow on email front if they even bother to respond.

I see them on EE right now. I messaged John V but no response :(

I'm wondering if I should buy it on the site with the collets (i'm going to lower my rear by 1.5") or if I should just make a post to call out to anyone selling one used...

As mentioned above, John V has nothing to do with EE anymore. I think he's the brother of the owner and they had some sort of falling out and with that, John stopped posting here too. If I recall, His brother tried to fill the void for a while but it never happened. The bad service pretty much concided with John's departure.

John hasn't posted here since April 2004 and hasn't logged in since February 2005. I think it's safe to say you'll be waiting a while for that PM!

Too bad really. We had a good thing going for a while there.

Man that sux. Will give them a call tomorrow.

As for the sway bar, are there any significant companies that make something comparable? I've searched eBay and tried googling but I just get a bunch of Sport Trac stuff instead of the Sport version I'm looking for...

EE lists the same model # for the '03 Sport that they do for the 98-01 as they do for the '01-'05 Sport Trac Explorers. In other words, they all use the same rear swaybar.

I've heard of others making aftermarket bars. Saleen had one but it was actually thinner than the EE. Thicker is better.

Thanks for the help Celly, really appreciate. Found a used one from a seller on this forum. Will see if that goes through.

Used is fine. They don't really age much outside of the usual cosmetic issues. Make sure the bushings and endlinks are in decent shape though. Poly bushings are where it's at!

You'll appreciate the upgrade. When I traded in my '00 Sport on my '99 Eddie, I was back to stock for a week or so and I absolutely hated it to the point I felt a bit nervous driving the Explorer. Once you get used to the stability provided by the stiffer bar, it's a real adjustment NOT to have it.

Good luck.

They should change their name to Explorer Distress

lol

Since John left the company it has gone to crap. Sorry, but he knew how to run things.

I never got the benefit because he left EE a month or two before I started posting here. I did have some dealings with his brother and it was not good. He's a real piece of work. John represented himself and the Company so well. I did read many of his posts so I feel I know him.

My first deal with EE was with the bro (for a swaybar). Service and communication was non-existent. I wasn't even sure the bar would arrive because he wouldn't send me a tracking # despite numerous requests. My 2nd bar (3 years ago) went much better, but I dealt with someone else.

Hit and miss. Explorer "Distress" is right!
