Long time no post but purchase question

Have 1st gen X that I'm ready to part with. Will want to replace with 2002 or later up to $10k. Any years I should stay away from or common faults with said year?

I'd stay with an 03+ the 2002's are known for having a few issues, ya know working the kinks out.

Maybe others with newer models can shed more light.

x2 -- the 2002s and maybe a few more after are having significant issues with the rear axle and suspension.
It might even be worth looking into a 2001 and save some $$.

03 has a minor issue, i've learned here, with the rear plastic strip that the emblem is attached to... that plastic can break and costs a bit to replace. other than that 03, 04,05, all good. if you like to do mods, you will be very limited if you go with a 3rd gen, but some can be done. if you like the heavy suspension mods, the i'd agree with IZ and MountaineerGreen, 2nd gen.

No mods planned, just need a bigger ride for work as the gear seems to be piling up from gig to gig. So 2003 and beyond it shall be...
