we will soon have a supercharger kit with your name on it. We have most of the pieces right now. The first "pre-production" unit will be on a 2002 Explorer at SEMA show. If all goes well it will be at the Ford Motor Company exhibit. We are looking for Ford to embrace our supercharger for aftermarket consumption. Our focus right now is getting this unit ready for the SEMA show. After the show we will do on car tuning, then emissions approval. This is the closest we have been so far. We have super-
chargers on hand, we just need to "dail-in" the kit. I know you have been waiting patiently, it will be worth your wait. There were many production set backs related to the intake adaptor. We finally got them worked out and the pieces are currently being produced. We hope to have the kits in boxes and shipped out by X-Mass or Jan 1st. We will be sending out kits that are not emissions approved for those who wish to sign off the smog liability. If you have any questions, please let me know.

I don't understand why everyone is saying they're overpriced. I realise that they are expensive, but EE are selling their V8 chargers for just $100 more.

Am I missing something here? One would assume that you can get V8 chargers elsewhere for cheaper, if that's the case.

Also, how do you know it's too expensive when there is no other supercharger for the SOHC V6 on the market? Sure it's more expensive than chargers for other engines, but considering the availability of alternatives, the EE charger is surely worth it.

And I know there is the option of V8 engine swaps, but if you have a SOHC with only 40K miles on the clock, why would you want to swap it out?

Just wanting to find out ****.

no joke.....i wouldnt pay that much for 6 lbs of boost....count me out

one thing though, with the problems people are still having with the SOHC on their 2nd gens. I wouldn't throw on a charger on that engine even if it is really low boost like the 6psi that it puts out.

now the 02's might be a different story as the engine was tuned up a bit and the new 5 speed on 02' 4dr's can handle a sh!tload of power w/o crapping out compared to previous transmissions.

Yeah but their only a year old. Give them time. Unless someone else designed and built it.

ee doesnt make their charger kit anymore, but i think u can get a powerdyne one for under 3k. i guess u make a good poiint about nobody else making the kit, but im sure if u wait a bit, someone will come out with one. and isnt the compression ratio for the sohc 10:1 or somewhere around there. wouldnt it be somewhat dangerous to put a charger on top of that? i guess someone will have to test it out...matt? hehe:p

Could you do some changes to the motor, pistons or something to get the compression down before the charger? Or is that a bad idea?

There is a guy that put one on his SOHC ranger and I think he put the pistons from an OHV in it. That reduced the compression to 8:1. The SOHC is 9.7:1 I think.

There's a guy on Ebay who lets brand new 4.6L V8 DOHC all aluminum Cobra motors go for 3300 or around there. I would much rather buy one of those, pay another 1500 for a Tremec 5 speed, and Viola, insta ass kickin' Explorer. I can just think of so many other things that can be bought with 3600 bucks rather than a supercharger. Aww man, now I wish I had 3600 bucks to spend 'cause all I'm thinking about right now is what I could buy with 3600 bucks. Drool.....

Definitley sweet, but you'd have a ***** of a time trying to get the 4.6 engines to fit (if they even do) because their so wide in a 2nd gen Explorer.

True, it's only about 1 or 2 yrs old, but the trans is a lot better than the previous 5 speed or any trans on an Explorer, KenneBell along with a bunch of shops in California have been building a lot of Explorers and a few Mountys w/ the 4.6 V8 and KenneBell twin-screw charger and obviously KenneBell especially has been dogging the crap out of them (one of them - a mounty - was just featured in Truckin SUV). I talked to the guys at KenneBell and they told me they confirmed through their testing that Ford rated the new 5 speed to handle more than 400 hp and 450lb-ft of torque (which was mentioned in the mag, thats why I asked them if it was correct), another good plus is the shops have reported no glitches with the charger on the 4.6 V8.

Also, KenneBell is testing a way to make their new twin-screw charger adapt onto the SOHC V6, but they said their still testing it b/c like some of you said - they were also worried about the compression, and although they can fix that with better internals, the likely-hood of someone doing that to a sohc V6 is like nil, b/c most people just want a bolt-on kit with no upgrading.

But if they get it right, you can bet that twin-screw will blow the EE unit outta the water and most likely be a lot cheaper too.
