Looking at a 2002 Sport Trac for sale

The best place to sell your used converters too is in New Jersey, he will pay fair prices and even help pay for shipping, that is unless you have a good buyer or refinery local. I have no issue proving that I own the vehicles the cats come from, I have so many pictures and paperwork I can drown them in details. Also in Colorado I would sell my dirty copper, my aluminum, my batteries and converters all to the same yard so there is no doubt. I love it when they look at me like I hacked 30 Converters out of only fords lol

I have messaged with the woman and I told her how to get a replacement title. She said that she knows how to do that. When I'm feeling better, I will communicate again and see if I can get some pay work drilling out the tumbler and replace the key/tumbler. Can I use one from a pre PATS truck, like 1997 Explorer application? I have a 2002 Sport Trac PCM that PATS is switched off that I can install to here it run. I would like to get paid to drill out and replace the tumbler, so if we are unable to agree on the price, I won't be out any money. The PCM would be extra too. I'll just leave it in long enough to run it. Link to key/tumblers. On the newer Fords, there are more variety off key patterns. Now my brothers' 1967 Cougar, the key matches our 1985 F350 car hauler. I have a key ring with several single sided old Ford keys and many times have been able to start a customer car, then have a key cut for them.

Yes 95-01, 02-04 yadda yadda if it has this dash the lock cyl is same all the way to 2011 ranger

key lock cyl all similar
I would buy it
Then work on ignition and get it running
People Get weird about the price if you start it before Money changes hand
I mean she is basically looking at selling this thing for scrap unless she is willing to get the title pay to have key mad, tow it for repair etc etc

This is a $3-700 sport trax as it sits
You can tell by looking it over what it needs (they always need an engine or trans lol lol)

Remind her it is 22+ years old and sitting

She's stuck on $800 and I can't pay anything near that, not running or running needing work. Sunday I may go look at it. Her and her husband will be off work for the day. First thing is to make sure that the cats haven't been hacked off of it.

I would bring a trailer
Offer her $400
If she gets you the title another $200

Otherwise offer $400 and be prepared to drive away
If it is an hour drive or more I can throw another $1-200 on it if I really like the truck

No way in heck will she ever see anywhere near $800 unless she parts it out
Scrapyards will be like $250-400 at the most!!!

Hate to see a good trac get crushed

They have a very limited market, people either love them or hate them and sport trac parts only fit sport tracs

Not much sells when they are parted out other then the drivetrain which is likely shot, the axle, seats, wheels tires, and scrap value of cats battery and body

Once I am done informing the owner of all this I am usually loading up a $400 trac

$800 is dreaming. Reality is under $500 as is. Starts runs and has a title then the price goes way up.

Yeah, $400- max. I might go to the shop to get a hold of her through FB to get her number. It just depends. I'm a bit under the weather and don't feel like doing much.

We need to hear more about that 67 cougar

Lazy seller. Lost the keys, oh well. Lost the title, oh well. I would price that at bad engine and bad trans prices, so scrap value? $250-300. No more than you can afford to lose when you try to register a stolen, embezzled, and/or salvage vehicle.

Ken has the Cougar. He won't sell anything. I sold him my half when I was buying his old dwelling.
