Looking for info on '00 tranny

Does anyone know where I can get some info on the transmission in my 2000 XLS? I'm curious to find out how it works, stuff like the shift patterns and the internal mechanics of it. I've seen it do some odd things like going into overdrive in 4th gear, and skipping over gears when shifting. I don't even know what the model is, I guess if I had that I could probably just do a google search.

You have the 5R55E transmission. Run a search for it. There was shifting pattern for it posted not too long ago. I will skip gears, especially under light acceleration. 2nd gear is actually 1st with OD applied. When I got mine, I kept thinking it was shifting 6 times, but one of those "shifts" was the Torque Converter unlocking(?). There are also links to a "how stuff works" site that talks about the transmission also.

doesnt the xls have the 4.0 ohv and not the sohc which is a 4 speed?
