Looking for Mach-1 Hood for 1999 Explorer..

I like that. but would like it even more if it was painted to match the truck, IMHO. Al, spindle gave me the same directions that he just spoke of to mount my scoop, a few screws and some tape, but I will not cut a hole in my hood either, LOL. I bought mine purely for looks. I will wait on EE to finish with there SC and then compare the 2, there's and Apten to which is better of the 2 for the money. Plus when I go for state inspection on truck here in Sept I will check with them to see about what is legal and what is not as for as the SC's are concerned. Sure wouldn't want to drop 3k+ on a SC and not be able to get my truck inspected. Wouldn't that be a hoot.

Ronnie, thats a perfectly good reason to have one and a civil answer, thanks, my friend.

bbq, it is painted to match the truck... its half red and half black... painted in the same fashion as the scoop/hood on the mach 1 mustangs

Yo Ron
Any SC be it apten or EE is going to run alot more than 3 K, properly set up and installed, maybe 42 dead preasys, and no hood scoop or cowl induction will do squat for an SC

It is painted the same red as my truck. I never saw that half red/half black look before and if I did, I just didn't pay much attention to it. To me since I am just using it for looks, I like the solid red look up there. I may have the sides of it bonded to make it look like 1 complete piece though instead of being able to see the seams on the side. But whichever I way I go on that, it will be much later down the road. Right now we are trying to work in getting the EE lowering kit installed while she is sitting at the audio shop. I got someone who is going to install it over there, will save some more down time and kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Also installing the EE airdam I have with the PIAA Pro90's. I like the way the audio installer is doing his wiring and I really want him to run the wiring for the PIAA's while it is there and he has it all apart.

Yea I know, that was a missed key and I didn't catch it. It should have been a 4 instead of a 3, LOL and with a K behind it, it is a big difference. ROFL

Soo all that work just to watch it move when you blip the throttle?

This inlet doesn't lead to anything?

He deleted it.

LOL! He traded a bunch of guns and 1k for a truck! :chug:

i have seen an intake manifold for a shaker style hood where it bolted on and was functional. but it was at least 8 months ago and i remember it being over 1000$ a pop.
all that guy did was take a stock shaker setup from a mustang and showed how it could be installed in a sport trac. if he took it a step further he could make it functional. he did this before the explorer express hood scoop was out. i'm sure his setup has changed since this was written.

Thanks for the replies. The scoops you have shown are mostly Shaker style that were used on the Boss model Mustangs. I'm looking for the Mach-1 style like they used on the fast backs from 71-73. Lots of companies make them for Fox bory, 94/95 and later 'Stangs. Just thought it would be an awesome look.

I have been working for an AR15 manufacturer for the last 10 years almost, so I have lots of industry contacts. Guns are as good as money, and I'm always looking for a good trade!! This one was the best so far.
