Im looking at buying some wheels and tires, 31x10.50x15 on 15x8 inch, for my 96 X and these are the ones I have picked out. I was wanting to get some advice from the vets of the forum to see if these are worth purchasing. Seeing as my X is only 2wd :(, I don't really need anything thats gonna get me in the fun stuff, just the occasional off roading behind my house. Im going with Mickey Thompson Baja and the Dick Cepek Wheels. Let me know what yall think. The JCWhitney price has them for $1,146.83 total. I maybe able to get them cheaper at a local tire place, but was curious if anyone knew of a place I could find them cheaper?

Looks like a good combination, the MT's will ride pretty smooth for a MT.

Go for it

Not a vet, but...

Although I have 4wd, when I had my 2wd it performed very well with just ATs. The MTs that you're looking at are very nice, but wear sooner than some others. You will not be disappointed, they are very "sick" is the word I keep hearing ;) Here are a couple of past shots...

Thanks for the replys guys. Really thinking about picking them up. Played a little with photoshop just a little bit ago, I combined the wheels and tires. First I pretty stoked the way it turned out, mainly cause this is the first time I have done something on PS that looks decent, not good at PS. Anyways heres the pic.

Now to figure out how to make the wheel and tire one piece and rotate it to fit the side view of my X. Any advice on that would be most welcome.

Thanks again for the replys.

Finished up the work on PS, gotta say seeing them under my truck has turned it from a maybe to a definite. Here's the before and after pics.

Let me know what yall think.

Nice, I'm partial to the first rims at the top :)

Those look sweet, enjoy.

I like the wheels. They're affordable and they look good. I also like the Mickey Thompson Classic IIs. I'm looking at Eagle Alloy 058s which are nearly the same thing. Summit Racing also makes their house brand version.

I have a question. I noticed you have dual exhaust and your pipes are on the outside of your leaf springs. When I had my previous Explorer, the exhaust shop told me they couldnt get it to fit like that, so they put them on the inside of the leaf springs. I didn't like the looks of the tips when they were that close together, so I ended up cutting them off. Now, I just bought another 5.0 Explorer a few days ago and I'm preparing to get my exhaust done again, but I definitely want the tips on the outside of the springs. I plan to remove my spare, so that should help with clearance around the fuel line on the driver's side. Is there any way you could take a pic of the underside of your Explorer so I can see how yours are layed out? This time, I'm going to keep a close eye on the exhaust work and I want to be able to tell them how to do it if they're too dumb to figure it out again.

Thanks! I'm removing my spare tire, but does your exhaust affect yours in any way? It looks like its REALLY close. If you don't already, I would keep an eye on it.

None what so ever, this was the first thing I actually had installed on my X. I had it installed about 5yrs ago and not one problem as of yet.
