I want to install LED tail light and turn signal bulbs in my 08 Limited, but when I install them the command center tells me that my bulbs are burned out. Apparently I need to install an LED flasher relay. But, of course, I can't find the relay.

Someone told me to look for the relay next to the passenger compartment fuse panel, but no luck. Anyone know where I can look?

I would check the fuse box under the hood drivers side.

I would check the fuse box under the hood drivers side.

Did that, no luck. Found comments on other areas indicating a "yellow" box under the fuse box, not on my rig. Also found comments regarding a "blue" relay being the right one, but there are no blue ones on mine anywhere.

The "clicker" noise when you activate the turn signals comes from a speaker under the dash, so trying to find it by sound won't work either. I even went to a Ford dealer in Flagstaff but they are the most useless people I've ever met. Their parts guys don't even have any diagrams. How they ever fix anything is beyond me.... Anyone have any ideas??

Can't find the flasher ......... not one. The SJB (Smart Junction Box, which BTW turns a lot of us into dummies  ) controls the flash....and a myriad of other functions. Complicates a lot of modifications since it senses power input/output to control various functions.:mad: No, I don't completely understand it's operation......

I have no suggestion. Maybe someone with more knowledge of this system will be able to help you.

All the turn lamps are wired to the SJB. The timed on/off cycle is determined by the SJB and is set to flash approximately 80 times per minute if both the front and rear turn lamps operate correctly. If only an individual turn signal lamp operates, the SJB flashes the remaining turn lamp approximately 160 times per minute for bulb outage indication.

check the SJB for location 11-5 & 11-6, if i read the schematic right, these are the parking/brake/turn signal light relays but no guarantee

I've searched high and low for the LED-friendly relay, and was told by the last guy to make them that they aren't made any more. Buy the load resistors, and do the best you can with them.

Yep, I spent some time on the phone with a couple of the LED companies and apparently there is no way to use LED's in my Sport Trac unless I use the load resistors. Thanks for the assistance!!

For those of you with a 2nd gen Trac and anyone who found this thread in a search. I located the parking lamp relay. I posted a few pics to help as well. I am updating this thread as I continue to search for a way around load resistors.

UPDATE: From what I've been reading, there is no flasher relay for 07 or later Sport Tracs. The turn signal is internally controlled by the SJB. I'm still testing other methods to get around the use of load resistors, and I'll be constantly updating the linked thread to let the forum know of the results.
