I recently purchased my 92 lx. I have been looking at different lifts and have many different ideas. I have to keep in mind that this is my daily driver AKA mommy mobile so I can't go too crazy. Any ideas on what my best route would be? I would like to be able to run at least 33's maybe 35's. I am looking for the cheapest but best route to go. This is my first non GM build so any and all input would be greatly appriciated.

thanks for the info. that seems to fit well within my beer money budget. It doesn't seem too difficult? you had said something about swapping the shackles. Couldn't I get the same thing out of 2in blocks in the rear? If not where would I find these shackles? Could I fit 33's by doing this or would the body lift be needed as well? I really wasn't wanting to mess with the body too much, but I will if need be. and again thank you.

...i wouldn't recommend lift blocks...the warrior war-153 shackles you can get online at http://4wheelparts.com along with several other places...they are about 63 bucks plus tx and are easy to install...i would also get a set of bushings for them too...20 bucks???
...as for tire size, 31's would be good...over that and you get a little more complicated as in needing to upsize your gears or you will be lugging your vehicle but your tires would look good...lol...anyways, here is a link to tire sizes and it has a whole bunch of answers...good luck...:D

I had a 3" body lift and ran 22x12.50s on stock wheels for over a year with no problems.. mine is my daily driver also and with 3.73 gears i was getting around 14mpg city and 17 on the highway.. the tires rubbed a lil when i would turn at full lock but then i added 2" coil spacers and warrior shackles and did great.. id suggest that route

Lift blocks don't work on Explorers as the axle sits on the spring. Where a lift block is used on vehicles with springs sitting on the axle (SOA). A cheap lift would be a body lift(they come in 1,2,and 3 inch). To go with 35's I have a 4" suspension and a 3" Body lift and still had to trim some of the front fender. I also added 4:88 gears(the post above saying 35's would get expensive)

okay so 33's it is.... can anyone point me in the direction of a decent suspension lift? I was looking at several kits online. I decided today that I am just going to go ahead and spoil myself with tax money and buy a complete kit.

It all depends on your budget. if its 2wd then you have the option of a bent beam kit (autofab/gaint/spirt racing), you could also do an extended beams (camburg/autofab/gaint/fabtech). 4wd you can do a (skyjacker/rancho) or an extended beam (camburg/gaint/mcneil racing). There are more options, I'm just tired and can't think.

If you want cheap then go with the 4in rough country kit. you should be able to fit 33's with a little trimming. I had to trim with my 4in susp and 3in body and 35's but not too bad. I'm still running 3.73's it's not too bad but i'm changing to 5.13s soon.
