looking to buy, need advice

Hi everyone! Looks like a great site here!

I am this close to buying a 2002 Explorer XLS 4x4. I wanted to ask if there is anyting particular I should pay special attention to, I figured this would be the place for honest answers on common problems.

Thanks in advance for any help, and if I go ahead and buy it, I plan on spending some time here!

Edit: I forgot to metion that it is the sohc 6.

the price is right on this 6. Honestly, I don't need the v8. Is there a significant difference in reliability between the 6 and the 8?

Gas mileage is pretty much the same - but the power difference is like night and day. If you plan on keeping the vehicle for along time - look at the cost projected across that time and it's not really that much. I've had both and even though my X with the 6 was my favorite vehicle, when it came time to thin the herd I sold it to keep the v8.

engines are both great. its the tranny that makes a huge difference. :thumbdwn:
