'95 XLT
Well, day after valentines day which was yesterday is now judgement day for my beloved 95' EX xlt. Sitting at the stoplight in the intersection waiting to turn left, there light is yellow mine is yellow also so as the norm 95 % of the time i figure there going to stop RIGHT? WRONG!!! Silverado comes blazing through the light and BAM....we now have a t-bone rear pass quarter....i'm trying to think of something positive from this i have now come up with two conclusions. He amazingly hit the side that already had two golf ball sized dents in that same quarter panel and explorers can hold there own in a crash...damn thing is rock solid and still runs like a beast, thats what i love about that good ol' mid 90's detroit steel!:p: anyway tell me ur opinions and look at the now sad X. my first wreck in like 6 years in case anyone was wondering.

95 - 97ish chevy 1500 hit me doing 50+ while I was making a left hand turn. Spun me twice, I landed in a ditch. Windshield was smashed, hatch was all messed up, my face was burned and cut from the air bag and the center console bruised my ribs from hitting me in the side. He hit me so hard he knocked my spare tire off and sent it down the road, the brake rotor and caliper somehow landed in the bed of his truck. My best guess is he was doing around 50, probably more from the damage and how he spun me. I was turning into work when it happened, he came up and over a hill which is also a corner in a black truck. He wasn't there when I started turning I got blamed for the accident though because I "turned into his lane." I only had that car for 40 days, insurance company gave me $4k for it, kelly bluebooked at $7600......

Insurance always lowballs. You never accept the first offer they give you, when totalling, or when getting it fixed.

Doesn't look to bad, you could probually pound it back into place. ;)

let us know what you decide to do.

that does not look to bad.

i dont know about that.. my dad backed into me with a trailer and damaged my left rear quarter panel..from tail light to past the gas cap.. creased the metal, scratched to bare metal about a foot long by 1.5 inches tall.. quote to fix was 1,600$.

i was rearended.. bent my bumper, scratched and dented the reat hatch underneath the explorer emblem...(dent the size of the emblem itself)
the price of that fixup was estimated at 1,000$.. thats including replacement of bumper and bumper covers..
(price of repair will vary between states and such due to labor rate)
betwen the two of those accidents its a total of 2600$ in repairs.. and my damages were not nearly as bad as yours.
Be careful because the insurance company may try to total it out..

If it's something simple like replacing a bumper or the hatch, I'd definitely do it myself, with junkyard parts. Much cheaper then paying someone else to do it with new parts, and you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself  :D

Even the quarter panel, you could try and do as much work as possible yourself, like removing the plastic trim so the piece can be painted easier, or sanding, or something. Talk it out with the body shop.

$1600 for a quarter panel scratch is ludacrious. I got quoted $1100 to do damn near half a car, with tiny scratches and dents all over.

That, or if your like me, which alot arent, but theres an automotive school around here called CACC, lots of teenage guys trying to fix anything and everything automotive. They would pop a dent out for free, and charge you just for paint and maby $10 labor to fix stuff... Im getting a paintjob for $300! lol

Finally getting another X hopefully !
