A friend of mine put some freon in my system, gauges meet range specs. I noticed the air is not as cold and air volume out of vents drops once in awhile when I accelerate. A friend told me that I may be losing vacuum from canister or check valve is bad. Can someone help me in finding this solution or location of check valve. I looked under hood, but could not find a plastic valve, that resembles a check valve, but than again I'm not a tech.

Also what might be reasons for the air not be cold enough even when gauges read ok, according to my friend who helped me. I would like to buy gauges and do it myself. I beleive I can do it. Is there a thread in how to do this...Appreciate any help

Thx

Assuming that things are as you say.........gauge reading within spec........but, just not cold enough.

Perhaps, you and I have a probelm w/ vent doors? See my sad story:

The tech said the A/c "system" was working.........said "problem" was somewhere else.

Possibly........the heater air is mixing w/ A/C air, cause a vent door isn't working correctly. Or, the air isn't moving across the A/c evaporator cause a door somewhere (possibly at firewall) isn't opening when it should.

Aloha, Mark

Or your charge could be too high. (eg. too much refrigerant). If you above in the "stickies" there is a ton of info on AC and how to recharge it etc.
