2004 Explorer A/C & air only runs through defrost.

This just started happening. The air and the a/c will only come out the defrost exits and the back seat. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread to the A/C section. It sounds like you have a vacuum leak on one of the hard plastic vacuum lines.

your going to have to check for vacuum leaks, or small loose hoses back in there. Also there are several electrical actuators also which can fail. try searching on Blend Door it shows you more of what goes on in there but blend door controls the temp not which vents. . .

It's not a blend door problem, it's a vacuum leak.

Do a search on this, some people have had problems with the vacuum reservoir

I just found the same problem with a friend's 2002 Explorer. Turned out to be a broken door lever under the dash. Unclipped the glove box and let it rotate down and was able to see it. Tied up for now until the weather turns cooler and then we will do a fix.
