2002 sporttrac
Hi, I have just experienced loss of power on my 2002 sport trac.
I could not rev over 3000rpm and was lucky to get 80 kph.
My mechanic disconnected the exhaust and the power loss was gone.
He figures it’s the catalytic converter but when I picked up the truck with the exhaust back on it was running 95% better.
Any ideas?

I've had my Cat replaced and about every 6 months have to have my Explorer in the shop for loss of power. truck sounds and runs like it's constipated. Can't figure it out. Mechanic removed carbon build up today, but truck still seems plugged up.

I have been driving my 2002 sport trac for 2 days now and the truck is driving better. The ford dealer said that the cats are still under warranty. Can the cats be plugged one day and work fine the next day?

maybe there's a hole through the cats now (mechanic "fixed" the plugged exhaust).

Usually the fuel pump is getting weak

Does it feel like it’s struggling for gas?

Engine making any strange noises especially at cold start?

Is the check engine light on?
