1999 Explorer Limited
Hi all!

I have a 1999 Explorer Limited. When I put pedal down to merge onto highway or from start with overdrive off, she moves, albeit tolerably. When I do the same with overdrive ON (default), it's slow as a snail, no acceleration. It even slows down some as though I'm letting off the gas, even though I'm not. It doesn't downshift.

Already changed fuel filter and fuel pump as well as plugs and wires, had tuneup, etc... Only thing left is oxygen sensors, fuel pressure regulator, or catalytic converter. Do you think the symptoms warrant any of that? Any ideas?

Thanks!

I don't have a fix for you but a band-aid might be to push in the button at the end of your shift lever to turn off overdrive before you try to accelerate.

If stomping the go pedal doesn't cause it to downshift you have a transmission or computer problem. Throwing O2 sensors , etc. at it won't make it downshift.

Good Luck!
