i have a 1999 explorer and whenever i hit a bump or dip in the road, a clunking noise occurs from the under carriage or somewhere underneath the car but it only happens when i hit a bump. has anyone had this problem and what should i do? thanks

Check your ball joints and tie rod ends.

sway bar link was clunking when i hit the gas and the front end would rise and the bottom 2 bushing were messed up and had gap in it

Also could be your slip yoke needing lube. Thats usually when you stop though, not when you hit bumps.

Mine started this after some hard driving. I also recently replaced my upper control arms, shocks and bushings. When I jacked it up and shook the wheel, I found out that one of the bolts came loose on the upper control arm. I must not have tightened it up enough.

Check and see if your spare tire is loose. Mine was banging back and forth when I first got my ex.
