Dear all,

My Ford XLT96 was parked for more or less for one year, recently I have started, its started perfectoly but on drive i felt clear difference in losing power & pick up is al most nill,
I have changed fuel filter, spark plug & air filter, also use injector cleaner in fuel tank , its bit batter now but STILL very low in pick up, any suggestion ??

Regards
Mateen

Did you think that maybe the gas that was left in it has lost octane?

I'd run the old gas down to E and then put in 10 gallons of midgrade with some good injector cleaner.

It would probably also be a good idea to do a tune up in the near future.

Clean MAF sensor & IAC valve

Did you add fuel stabilizer to the tank before leaving the vehicle to sit for a year? Fuel injector cleaner can take as much as 200 miles to clean the injectors. I suggest that you clean the MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner and also clean the IAC valve. I wouldn't let the fuel drop below a quarter tank for the next several fillups. The lower the fuel level the lower the quality of fuel you'll be pulling from the tank. Hopefully, you'll gradually dilute the degraded fuel with good fuel. I wouldn't go on any out of town trips for a while.

Sorry Mate,
It wasnt plan to park for such a long time but since I got company Truck Pajero (never enjoy riding, but u know it was free) hence couldnt add any fuel stablizer, but you know fuel availlable here in Middle East is ever best quality in the world & I always use Super which has 96-98 Octane, I agree with you the more i drive the berret is getting,
I appreciate if you can explaine MAF sensor location & cleaning meathod? & AIC valve too,
The first day I took out I drove about 180KM, around 100 miles, As i mentioned earlier Initial pick up is too low but once the engine is worm, its start to get batter, Kindly explane when you say Tune UP, what are we talking about, I mean the procedure of tune up or should I need to consult dealer / Garage OR can I do my self??

Thanks & regards
Matie

You can start out by changing the spark plugs, wires, fuel filter and the air filter.

As for the other things if you do a search here you will find tons of threads regarding cleaning the MAF and the IAC although I might not worry about the IAC as you don't have an idle problem. But it would be good preventive maintanence. All can be done by yourself.

change all the engine fluids...might as well do the transmission

Friends,
changed, plugs, wires, f.filter A.filter / e.oil & general service,
Its improve a lot BUT, sudden pick-up is not there, I mean, if the truck is parked & I have to move then I have to press gas padel all the way down , once its move, then its recovering its spead , slowly but I can go up to like over 105miles!
any advise?
