Hi, everyone,

After being told that no one can lube parts on my '97 EB that I think need to have some lube (due to persistent low-level squeaking) because they are "factory sealed", and after I then discovered that many folks on this site have indeed managed to lube these parts themselves using a standard grease gun with a syringe that can go under the protective boots or poke a hole in them to get grease at the underlying parts, I would very much like to do the same thing myself.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what any of the following parts look like (and therefore have no idea what to grease up once I get underneath the Ex with the grease gun). Yeah, I'm an idiot. So, now that that's overwith, could anyone direct me to pictures of the following on a 2nd gen Ex, so I'l know what/where I should be looking for the following and what they look like:

1) tie rod ends
2) ball joint boots
3) CV joint boot
4) torsion rod bushings

I'd also be thankful for hints as to any other parts that probably need to be lubed to cure a low-level persistent squeak that can only be heard when going under 30 MPH and that only goes away when I apply the brakes to slow down.

I've spent my best efforts looking for pictures on the site, but couldn't find them, and I'm really frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

no you can t lube the cv joints, you will cause the grease to spin out the boot has to remain flexable , i had a tiny pint hole in 1 of my boots and the greas spun out , SO DON T PUNCTURE IT WITH A NEEDLE AND SYRINGE...

i just got my 2001 xlt 4.0l 3 mths ago and i love it but the dealer did the rear brakes and the frts were ok but i too notice a very faint squeel at low speed till about 30mph but not all the time,
i feel it might be harmonic brake rubbing , it doesn t bother me enough to do anything about it s not that loud to me. but yours might be louder, mine doesn t go away when i apply the brakes only when i slow down...

if i were you i would look at the brake rotors and pads, they might look fine BUT they could both be glazed lube the slides and you can try the brake quiet jell the red stuff you spread on the backing plate of the pads. good luck

Thanks for the info, especially about the CV boot. I really don't think that the CV is what is causing the squeaking noise, since other folks on the site seem to say that the CV makes a "clunk" or "grinding" noise if it is going bad, but I figured that if it is something I should lube, I should go ahead and find out how.

I'll check back to see if anyone has pictures of the other things I listed over the weekend . . .

Thanks again for your help.
