I know a lot of folks have used this stuff on transmissions with problems. But has anyone used it for preventative maintenance? An Explorer owner I know who runs a local garage insists it adds a layer of protection to the gears. He uses it in all his vehicles and believes the only reason both his E-150 delivery vans were able to go 500K miles on their original transmissions was because he kept Lucas in them.

I've never believed in additives, and I'm working my way toward lighter synthetics in my Ex. But his case was compelling and I've gone through 3 transmissions in the last 5 years. So I decided to try it in my wife's Taurus, which has no transmission issues, but has almost 140K miles.

Have I done something prudent or stupid?

Additives

I recently had my trans filter changed and the fluid replaced (only in trans per treds) I also added Motorkote. I hope it keeps my transmission getting the miles. I only have 50,000 miles on my 04
