I think most all autos do, it stays in OD if you tap the brake pedal or tip/tip out of the throttle lightly. If you drove at highway speed, say 70 mph and while holding your right foot steady on the gas pedal tapped the brake with your left lightly the rpm will flare slightly, that's the TCC unlocking for a moment then locking again. This is why I think his tranny is shifting into OD not simply locking. Hard to diagnose a problem at distance though...
