Luke-warm heater.

It sounds like it's OK. As for the vacuum controls, vacuum controls the servo pistons for the flow of air to each vent. You have a check valve near a servo under the hood between the engine, and the plastic box which contains the blower motor assembly. Sometimes the hard plastic tubing cracks near the rubber adaper, so check this location.

Yes, you're right about that vacuum line at the bend near the rubber adapter. I found this earlier in my visual inspection and repaired it...didn't seem to change anything so I failed to mention it.

I seem to have the same heat problem here. Both hoses hot, new heater core in the past few months. Will probably give the thermostat a go and then try the blend door. Under the hood there's a funny looking round metal thing that resembles a fuel filter that is right before the blower motor. Any one know the function of this? New member to this forum.

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the Aerostar section. What was the temperature range of the new thermostat? Did you install the thermostat in the correct direction? Is the fluid level correct? Are both heater hoses the same temperature?
I haven’t checked the hoses yet and I haven’t burped yet
