M5OD Swap

Hello everyone,

I have been looking for an M5OD to swap into my 94 Eddie Bauer for a long time. Well one popped up on Craigslist today about 60 miles from me. I have done some searching and it looks correct to me but wanted to make sure it will fit. Does this look like it will work? Thanks!

Been doing some research. It appears that trans has a starter motor on the passenger side where as my A4LD is on the drivers side (as are other M5ODs that I have seen). I assume that this must be an M5OD from a different application (3.0?...he said it was out of a ranger of unknown year).

Thats definitely not a 4.0 trans. Its believe its a 3.0 trans.

You need one for either a 4.0 or a 2.9 will work also. Just the 2.9 one has a little lower gear in 1-3 which is actually better.

2.3l's have the starter on the pass side.

Thanks for the replies! I too found that that trans had to have come from a 3.0 or 2.3. I think it is probably from a 3.0.
