M5R2 swap help

I've been tearing apart my 97 5.0 and I've noticed that there appears to be a vss in the tranny and the m5r2 that I have doesn't have one. What are my options and what problems can I expect if I use the m5r2 that doesn't have the vss?

Drill out the location and got to parts store and get the proper drive gear and retaining clip. But remove the tail housing first, that's what I had to do. It's easy to do

Do you have any pics of where to drill? I have no problem doing this I just want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly. Also when you are saying tail piece are you referring to the 6" long section of the tranny that the transfer case bolts to?
