Mac exhaust- V6

Well I got the MAC exhaust system this week and installed. fairly easy to install, but the main issue I experienced is the fittament over the rear suspension and frame brace. Very tight. If MAC would have added about 1/4" - 1/2" more (for adjustment purposes )to the length of the system it would have been perfect. After spending 2 hrs on the install and an hour trying to get it exact, its not.

The exhasut tubing still hits on the rear cross member right above the rear CV axle. when its cold startup. After that you dont hear it.

Anyways has anyone else experienced this? I know there will always be some issues with exhaust due to the changes of the vehicles and no two are exact, just kinda bummed that it needs to be modified to fit correctly w/o any rattling /noise.

I was thinking about ordering a mac exhaust for my 02 v6. Any info on performance and sound would be appreciated.

Sound is rather throaty, I like it, there is a "slight" drone but not on freeway, more crusing around town in stop in go traffic. I think it flows better, rpms are dropped slightly on freeway runs, so that may help mileage a bit??

Its only been on 1 day, so I have no hard facts, I do stomp on it a little more to hear it, but Im sure it breathes a little better due to the better bends and 1/4" bigger tubing. The stock muffler weighed as much as the ENTIRE new exhuast!

well built exhaust, just wish it fit perfect.

also the muffler in the MAC system will sound better in about 2 weeks or so, once the inside of the piping and muffler get burnt up a lil bit... i noticed a change in my exhaust from first install to a month later

Is the MAC exhaust larger in diameter than stock?

yes 2.5" dia. The rattling is really annoying now, Ive done everything I can short of cutting and fabbing a new section- the catback may be for sale soon.

what do I need to do for a You Tube video?

probelm is the clip wont show the drone it gets about 1800RPM, which is around town driving range.. but it can allow everyone to hear the rattle.

hey man ive got the same exhaust on my 97 bought it from explorerexpress.com i love the thing good tone way better mpg on the highway little worse around town (cause i cant keep my foot off it) but im not getting the rattle your talking about but i do get that drone around 1800 like urs but i love it, ive matched it w/ intake and SCT programer and wat a difference
