MAF Problem

Doug, what Ford MAF do you think would be the best for the SOHC?

Thanks ....

On the SOHC's I've dynoed and simply datalogged I've seen no real reason to upgrade from the stock MAF's unless you supercharged them. The MAF counts are nowhere near maxed out.

I haven't tried an 80mm maf on a n/a 4.0 but I hope to soon to give you some solid data.

thanks, Doug.

With the customer service, or better said, lack thereof, its no surprise to me that Pro Flow is down the tubes.

Is Pro flo out of buisness?? If so I hope I never have a problem.

Doesn't sound like they're out of business, but they will if they treat customers as poorly as they do.

Where did you get that information?

I thought the other poster was just speculating. I hadn't heard anything about Pro-Flow being out of business.

Simply having a website down doesn't mean they're out of business. My business bank had their website down for two days a few weekends ago. I wasn't worried about HSBC being out of business.

They are indeed out of business.

To quote yourself:

"Where did you get that information?"

Not saying it's not true. Just haven't heard anything.

FYI

I did see talk about it on another site. Nothing official about them being out of business, but lots of different versions of events.

I've spoken with a few higher ups in the MAF world and yes, indeed they are kaput. I hear rumors of either Anderson Ford taking them over or Granettelli(spelling?) but for the core company they are gone.

Thanks, Doug.

Just read this entire thread. I'm a bit confused now. I know MAF's need calibrating, but I thought the PCM was in charge of that? Doug, when I bought the heads and cam from you wow, it's been almost 2 years! Any way, at the time you said ProM would be ok. Now after reading thru this, I'm wondering if any one else can tune/calibrate ProM's MAF? I have it (also got that dumb MafTuner, still sitting in the box since last year), and want to get a Bama Chips SCT tune. Will you (Doug) be able to tune it w/ the ProM that I have? If I keep the ProM, will I be forced to install, and use the MAFTuner? Thanx

If you have a camshaft and heads from my old 4.0 Performance business then I would recommend a dyno tune for your combo. Those heads alone would warrent that but add a cam and you're really flowing some air. I can recommend you to a good SCT tuner in your area and if they need any help I don't mind helping them with it either. You can use your Pro-M if you already have one and with a dyno tune you won't need the MAF tuner.

Thanks, Doug.

Doug,
What is involved with a dyno tune? Also, I asked a question I think on another post about making a stroker out of the 4.0. Is that possible or is the 4.0 already maxed out?

I've made a few posts about this subject already but a dynotune just makes sure your a/f is correct and then you can see if you can get anymore power from an engine before it starts pinging.(in short). I'll be dyno tuning this weekend and will make a post following so you can see some of the benefits of it.

Yes, a 4.0 is maxed out. You MIGHT be able to go a full 4" bore on a 90-94 block but anything newer and you don't have enough cylinder wall. You would be better off supercharging or adding nitrous to it.

later Doug.

Thanks. I already have a supercharger waiting. Its the Eaton M62. I still need the adapter kit to make it work. I am hearing a lot of bad things about Thomas Knight since I bought the Eaton. I wish someone else made the kit but I guess I'm stuck. The other kits are a little out of my range right now. I already have most everything else, with the exception of the heads and chip. When I have everything together, I will be calling about a dual program chip.

Doug, did you get my PM? I asked about the whole dyno tuning thing, and if you could set me up w/ a temporary program until I get that done.

Not until you said this, my popup blocker catches the notifications and I hardly ever check the numbers up top. This is why I always recommend if you want the fastest reply from me then PLEASE email it to me.

Thanks, Doug. Bamachips@charter.net
