Hey, guys. I need a MAF sensor for a 1994 explorer 4.0 w/ automatic trans and 4wd. I'm going to pick up one from the boneyard. What years will work with my '94? and do I need one from a 4wd and auto tranny or will any work?

Thanks

Well since no one has responded I will tell you what I do know, with my limited knowledge of this subject:

I do not fully know the answer to your question, but I do know that MAF sensors are calibrated to air flow and injector size. Having said that, you would, of course, be best to use a 94 MAF sensor; also good: 91-93 MAF or 95 MAF.

96 and later were OBD-II. I do not know if that affects the MAF signal or not.
If it does not, then you could use any OHV-engined truck 96-01. Keep in mind that starting in 97 the SOHC 4.0 was introduced, and I don't know if those MAFs are compatible.

Now that I've brought this to the top, maybe someone else with more definite info will chime in. I hope what I posted gets you started in the right direction...

Oh and I do not see how 4wd or auto makes any difference on the MAF.

Stick with 91-94 4.0L Ranger, Aerostar, or Explorer ONLY.

Hey man, thanks for that !!

410Fortune,
'91- '94 it will be then. Thanks

95 uses aEEC-V computer and the MAS is not the same, I know cuz a friend of mine tried it.
The 91-94 uses a EEC-IV computer and the MAS should be the same for those years.
