What is the code?

Are you certain that you reconnected everything?

you have to be gentle with the maf, iv used electrical solvent cleaner that evaporates soon as it makes contact at the elements to clean them, also wiggle the maf plug for connection. another thing- oiled intake filters are not good for it, the oil sits in the sensor hot wire cooking it self out.

well -

you did say that you installed a performance system. The MAF is a sensor that tells the PCM how much air flow the throttle body should be recieving.

So, unless your DTC is saying some kind of fail instead of out of range, I think its' doing what it is supposed to do - saying, oh hell, where is all this new extra air coming from?

Best first step when making changes like that is to write down all your stereo presets (you're gonna lose them), and then unplug the negative off your battery for a few minutes.

This forces the PCM to relearn all the engine parameters. Downside is until it figures out how you drive, the fuel and shift strategies might not be to your liking. Upside is that it figures out the MAF without throwing a code.

Now, if the CEL stays on related to the MAF after like a week (I think one parameter of the PCM took 11 hours of CONTINUOUS run time to update) you may have a bigger issue.

Be very careful cleaning that thing - they ain't cheap, and they are NOT tolerant of aggressive cleaners.

If it stays on over a week, or you experience other issues, post your code and we can go from there.

PS - Al, you having stuttering finger today? LOL :D

Will the scanner clear the codes and reset the computer to learn or is unhooking the battery the only way?

Sorry to invade your post but it seemed to be a good place for the question.

You will need a scantool to reset the code - disconnecting the battery doesn't clear stored codes (AFAIK). The first item I bought for my truck was a scantool, as I had the same issues when I installed my K&N Pod filter - cleared the MIL code (it was left bank lean, IIRC), and it hasn't coded because of that since. It's now coding with P0191 (fuel pressure circuit), but that's to do with the LPG install - when running on petrol only, it doesn't code at all.

I would like to know more about the lp install do you have any links

Thank You for the info. Other than less cost who does it do milage? Is it about the same as gas?

It's still early days, but the first tank of LPG was consumed at 22l/100 km (sorry, no idea what that is in MPG) but that included at least one tuning session - I am expecting around 20l/100km once the system beds in and is all tuned properly.

On petrol, we were averaging around 18l/100km, so it uses around 20% more fuel, but is less than 50% of the price of petrol (today, 65.9cpl for LPG versus 148.9cpl for unleaded), so overall the saving is quite good, and no noticeable difference in power.

To echo what JCUZ says;

(I am learning WAY more than I ever wanted to know about the PCM) -

There are several types of trouble codes. Some immediately kick the failsafe, some light the service engine soon light, and some don't do either.

You have two issues here, one is the check me light, and one is the "soft" data stored in the PCM that is specific to your car.

The data is updated over time. You are speeding that up by taking the power away.

Since the data is out of range, that is (should be) what is triggering the SES light. You normally can't reset the SES by cycling the PCM power UNLESS whatever tripped the light is reset by loss of the driving data.

Make sense?

So, you might have to go somewhere to fix the light, but from what I have read on all the boards, getting the data updated is what usually clears the problem up.
