well -
you
did say that you installed a performance system. The MAF is a sensor that tells the PCM how much air flow the throttle body should be recieving.
So, unless your DTC is saying some kind of fail instead of out of range, I think its' doing what it is supposed to do - saying, oh hell, where is all this new extra air coming from?
Best first step when making changes like that is to write down all your stereo presets (you're gonna lose them), and then unplug the negative off your battery for a few minutes.
This forces the PCM to relearn all the engine parameters. Downside is until it figures out how you drive, the fuel and shift strategies might not be to your liking. Upside is that it figures out the MAF without throwing a code.
Now, if the CEL stays on related to the MAF after like a week (I think one parameter of the PCM took 11 hours of CONTINUOUS run time to update) you may have a bigger issue.
Be very careful cleaning that thing - they ain't cheap, and they are NOT tolerant of aggressive cleaners.

If it stays on over a week, or you experience other issues, post your code and we can go from there.
PS - Al, you having stuttering finger today? LOL
