would it be possible to fit a mustang gt 77mm maf senor into a 93 explorer?
what other maf sensors will fit for best air flow?

I know what you are thinking and more airflow is good, but if the computer isn't aware that you swapped in a larger MAF it won't be able to properly compensate for the increase in air flow. What the hell, try it. Maybe it will work OK but I don't think you will get what you want out of it.

It might just work. You will have to reset the ECU I think, so it can learn the new values faster.

If you want to get technical no it won't work right.it will cause you to run lean and there is no need for a larger maf without mods .maf measures air velocity, larger maf =slower air velocity but larger volume.it will think you are sucking less air because the velocity is slower but yet you are letting more air in.so you are letting less gas and more air, double wamma !!the O 2 can adjust but only to a point and doing WOT it can't adjust so you just run super lean.

so its possible but pretty much no sense in doing it?

Yes its possible and may never see negative effects with the naked eye but they are there.either the maf or ecm needs to be tuned for larger maf.

Depends on what you are looking for and your price range.

as of now im lookin for something simple but i will be able to tell an increase in power

The ECU should eventually compensate because of the O2 sensor readings. So it should fix it's self within reason.

This is true to a point like i said but it takes time to do so and your making it work harder than it needs to also this does nothing for WOT.

jd4242: ive seen pic of your engine n wondering what kinda throttle body n spacer you used

You just missed out.i just sold my tb.i was using a bbk 66mm and yes i did run a spacer but i was using it as a nos injection plate,tb spacers are worthless.if you wanna save money and get some small performance search for throttle body half shaft mod.i have an crank underdrive pulley and an intake for sale.

yea pretty pricey but i bet its worth it but if i was to geta bbk tb should i throw in a diff maf as well

You really don't need one but the proper way to run a larger maf is to get one like a C&L and have it tuned for 19lbs injectors.i ran a 70mm without it being tuned and it ran fine till WOT then i would lean out.here's my old setup

and just to give you an idea bbk run $200+

as you can tell performance parts for the ohv are not cheap

what is WOT?

Wide open throttle.when you go wot the ecm runs off a set programmed numbers and does not adjust,or if you got alot of mods you will run into problems before that and wot will just be pushing it over the limit

so if i was to just get the bbk tb would i still see some increase in air flow/performace?
